Mayara Yamada grew up in the Amazon, in a region where water is omnipresent. Her company has infiltrated all areas of life and belief in a relationship as porous as it is beneficial to the moisture of souls and bodies.
In her performance "Déguisée d’eau", the artist uses gestures and stories to recall her arrival in Europe four years ago and the various rituals she has had to perform to cultivate her bond with water. To water her inner earth, to warm herself, to enjoy and to cry.
«Déguisée d’eau» is a multitude of requests and offerings to water, to experience reciprocity and complexity, to seek out the sources of fresh water in the sea and learn to navigate with joy.
«Déguisée d’eau» was presented in 2019 in Paris, in 2020 in Rio, its text was published in 2022 in Klima magazine and its final version presented at the Belluard festival in Fribourg in 2023.
